Glen Shee

At a height of 670 metres, the ski development at Glenshee provides an advantageous year-round access point to the high hills. In winter, the rounded peaks provide excellent cross-country and downhill skiing, while in summer, the fertile, lime-rich slopes are a mecca for botanists. It takes about an hour to get out of sight of the ski tows, but once there, the views across the rest of the Cairngorms are unrivalled.

9 miles 14.5 km (12mins) south of Braemar, on the A93.
